At A Place to Turn, we are honored to welcome Rachel Mallasch, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, to our Pasadena clinical team. Rachel brings a thoughtful, trauma-informed, and deeply compassionate approach to therapy, helping adolescents, young adults, adults, and couples reconnect with their authentic selves and create meaningful change in their lives.
Rachel specializes in supporting clients navigating identity development, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. She is particularly passionate about working with individuals who have learned to survive through people-pleasing, self-silencing, perfectionism, or difficulty setting boundaries. Through a collaborative and empowering process, Rachel helps clients reclaim their voice, strengthen self-trust, and develop a deeper connection with themselves and their bodies.
With a warm and curious presence, Rachel honors the complexity of each client’s lived experience through a compassionate “both/and” perspective. She is especially attuned to individuals who carry emotional distress in their bodies and works collaboratively to create space for what has been held, suppressed, or unspoken to be safely felt, understood, and released. Her goal is to help clients move toward greater authenticity, confidence, self-compassion, and connection in their relationships and daily lives.
Rachel’s therapeutic approach is integrative and grounded in Narrative Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, Somatic Therapy, and Parts Work. She views the body as a source of wisdom and supports clients in understanding how emotions, memories, and relationship patterns are experienced and stored physically. In therapy, she helps clients externalize problems, explore internal parts with curiosity, and cultivate greater internal safety and self-understanding.
Rachel brings additional depth to her work through her extensive background in reproductive health and family building. As a former perinatal, birth, and postpartum doula, as well as a surrogate intake coordinator in third-party assisted reproduction, she offers unique insight into fertility journeys, pregnancy, postpartum experiences, reproductive justice, and embodied healing. She holds a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Northridge.
Rachel is proud to serve clients in Pasadena and throughout California through virtual therapy. Whether you are healing from trauma, navigating identity questions, struggling in relationships, or seeking a deeper connection to yourself, Rachel offers a supportive space where healing and growth can unfold.
