Supervised by Amy Gandin, LMFT #40831
At A Place to Turn, Alison Segel, ASW, works with individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and major life transitions. She has experience supporting clients from diverse backgrounds, including individuals navigating addiction and recovery, chronic illness, domestic violence, and sexual assault. She also works with clients seeking greater self-understanding, personal growth, and support through everyday challenges.
Alison takes an integrative, person-centered approach to therapy, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and considering how relationships, family dynamics, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences influence emotional well-being. Her work focuses on helping clients better understand their emotions, recognize patterns, identify personal strengths, and develop practical ways to navigate challenges. She believes therapy should reflect each client's individual needs and circumstances.
With a background in clinical social work and experience mentoring women in addiction recovery, Alison brings an understanding of the many factors that can affect a person's mental health. She values creating an environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences, exploring their concerns, and working toward meaningful changes in their lives.
